The Lloydminster Museum + Archives (LMA) is a hub for community art, culture, and history. The LMA hosts specialized programs for all ages.
We love it when we can bring creative people together! Whether you crochet, weave, knit, spin, dye, embroider, or other, we welcome you to bring your current project to the new art studio to socialize with likeminded individuals, ask questions, and get inspired! We will also have a loom weaving demonstration, a small project available to try and supplies out to borrow.
Have you ever dreamed of living self-sufficiently? Join us in our historic Log Cabin to learn the art of beeswax candle making. Participants will create dip candles to make your home smell beautiful. As a bonus, you will be making cloth beeswax wraps to preserve or store your food at home.
Parents with their child(ren) ages 7+ can join us at Weaver Heritage Park for a Wilderness Survival adventure. Participants will learn how to make a fire without matches, build a natural shelter, learn how to track animals, identify medicinal and edible plants, and other useful survival skills and techniques. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
In this camp, we will explore the basics of botanical illustration using watercolour, ink, and pencil. We will develop a small set of botanical illustration samples through the observation of live specimens, botanical books, and written field notes. Watercolour paper will be provided. We suggest bringing your own illustration supplies, but we also have spare ones in the studio to borrow. No previous illustration skills required.
This class is for your preschooler’s creative and inquisitive side. Create art projects and have fun with science, music, play fun indoor games and much more!
Have you ever dreamed of living self-sufficiently? Join us in our historic Log Cabin to learn the art of soap making. Participants will create homemade soap using traditional methods and materials.
Participants will learn how to create a beautiful stained-glass piece to decorate your home. Beginner and Intermediate classes available.
Join Maxx, a local artist with the “Slay the Night Lloydminster” Drag performance group. You will be painting a Bob Ross inspired mountain scene accompanied by a glass or two of wine.
Learn the traditional practice of quillwork in this class led by Takota Stonechild. Rawhide and dyed porcupine quills are utilized in this art form. No prior experience is required to take this class.
